Satan is referred in the Holy Bible as a red dragon, the old serpent, and the devil. It is described in the book of Revelation as a red dragon with seven heads, seven crowns, and ten horns.
Re 12:3
Then another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon having seven
heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven diadems.
Re 12:4
And his tail *swept away a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth.
And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when
she gave birth he might devour her child.
The word Satan comes from Hebrew and means adversary. Satan is the adversary of anybody that tries to follow the true God. Since the creation of man, Satan has tried to deceive humanity into disobeying God and doing what is wrong. He deceived Eve in the Garden of Eden by telling her that she would not die, that she would be like God if she ate of the forbidden fruit. Of course, Satan lied to her. She died, and so have all of her descendants.
Other words used to describe the devil are: Lucifer, serpent, dragon, and owner of the house. Lucifer comes from Latin. It means light-bringer. Satan is also called the old serpent because he appeared to Eve in the garden of Eden in the shape of a serpent. He is also refered to as a dragon.
Isaiah 27:1
In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing
serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that [is] in the sea.
Satan used to have access to the throne of God Job 1:6 "…when the sons of God came to present themselves before YHVH and Satan also came among them.". At that time Satan accused Job of only fearing God because of the material benefits that Job had derived from God Job 1:7-11. Although God allowed Satan to bring misfortune to Job, God rewarded Job after his time of trial.
Isaiah refers to Satan with these words:
|
Isaiah 14:12 How you have fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! You have been cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! |
Isaiah 14:13
For you said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of
God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Isaiah 14:14
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Isaiah 14:15
But you will be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
It seems that Satan is already restricted to planet Earth and is unable to present himself before the true God as he used to do Re 12:7-9 "Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angels, but they did not prevail, nor was place yet found for them in heaven, and the great dragon was cast out the old serpent being called Devil and Satan is deceiving the whole inhabited world was cast onto the earth and his angels were cast with him."
Since Satan was cast down to earth, the conditions on earth have deteriorated immensely. |

Morality has run down, crime has escalated, drugs are rampant. And interestingly enough, all of this has occurred on a global scale. Yes, in the past we have had moral decay in certain parts of the globe, but never has it reached such an immoral state globally. |
The entire Earth has forgotten about God and pursued its own selfish interests. |
|
The very idea of word, honor, humility, innocence, religiosity and virginity is laughed at by the savvy, modern, witty, foul-mouthed, crude, homosexual, vice-filled, and profoundly ignorant mass of people that populates the planet today. Technology has indeed advanced, but the average citizen is more ignorant and illiterate than ever.
Re 12:12 "For this reason, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time."
By casting out Satan from heaven, Michael and his angels won the first battle. The next battle in this war against Satan and his demons is to restrict the negative influence that he has on Earth. This begins first by taking out from our planet what is good, and second by wiping out the garbage that remains. The 1st step will be accomplished with The Rapture, the second step will be accomplished during The Day of God's Wrath.
Satan is also referred to as "owner of the house," which in the original Greek is "oikos despotes"
Matthew 24:43 "But know this, that if the owner of the house (Oikos despotes) had perceived in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have let his house to be burrowed/tunneled under (diorugenai)," You may also read the story in Luke 12.
This is a reference to the coming of Christ for the rapture, in which Jesus tells us that it is of the utmost importance that the "owner of the house" (Satan) would not know at what time the "thief" (Jesus) would come.
The people who do not go in the rapture will suffer the Wrath of God, which culminates with the Battle of Armageddon.,
After the Battle of Armageddon, Christ takes over the rulership of the Earth and Satan is chained for 1,000 years Re 20:1 "and I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold of the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil and Satan, and bound him a thousand years."
After the millennium, Satan will be loosed and he will go on to deceive humanity again. Re 20:7,8 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
Satan will be finally defeated is his last attempt to deceive humanity Re 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
