Throughout history we have
seen major disasters occur. God does indeed protect us. However, we must do what
he says.
Christ said:
Luke 13:1-5
At that time, some of those present told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood
Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. To this He replied, “Do you think that
these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they
suffered this fate? No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you too will all
perish. Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower of Siloam collapsed
on them: Do you think that they were more sinful than all the others living
in Jerusalem? No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”
God certainly does not want us to perish, but to live on. He does indeed protect us.
2Thessalonians 3:3
But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you
against the evil one. |

All of us should in our hour of need call upon the Lord for He is near.
However, we should remember that He does not listen to sinners.
John 9:31
We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but if anyone is
God-fearing and does his will, He listens to that one.

Christ can
calm the sea and waves. He does so in the following Bible verses:
Mark 4
37Soon a violent windstorm came up, and the waves were breaking over the boat,
so that it was being swamped.
38But Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion. So they woke Him and
said, “Teacher, don’t You care that we are perishing?”
39Then Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the sea. “Silence!” He commanded.
“Be still!” And the wind died down, and it was perfectly calm.
40“Why are you so afraid?” He asked. “Do you still have no faith?”
41Overwhelmed with fear, they asked one another, “Who is this, that even the
wind and the sea obey Him?”

Yes, we do believe Christ can stop hurricanes. Also, we pray
that He will stop Hurricane Dorian. |
