Noah's Ark is one area that scientists attack with vigor. They claim there is no evidence of a world wide flood, yet many ancient people have a major flood in their oral histories.
On April 27, 2010 a group of Chinese explorers announced they made the discovery of the century. They claim to have located pieces that are remains of the biblical Noah’s Ark. At an altitude of approximately 14,000 feet on Mt. Ararat in Eastern Turkey, they were able to recover some wooden pieces looking like planks from a massive structure. They say that dating methods reveal the pieces to be approx 5,000 years in age.Could these remnants be pieces of the legendary ark of Noah? Nothing grows at that altitude, but the Bible says that a dove came with an olive leaf in its beak. Evidently wherever the boat landed it was at an altitude where olives grow. This new discovery at 14,000 feet is in a field of glaciers. There is no human habitation so far up, however, Josephus said that Noah's Ark was a popular tourist attraction in ancient times. In 1987, Ron Wyatt claimed to have found Noah's Ark at 6300 feet.

Due to the mounting world wide violence, God decided to destroy everything on the earth and save Noah and his family. Genesis 6:13 Then God said to Noah, "The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth. 14"Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; you shall make the ark with rooms, and shall cover it inside and out with pitch. 15"This is how you shall make it: the length of the ark three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. Any discovery of the ark would need to be consistent with these measurements. Genesis 6:16 "You shall make a window for the ark, and finish it to a cubit from the top; and set the door of the ark in the side of it; you shall make it with lower, second, and third decks. 17"Behold, I, even I am bringing the flood of water upon the earth, to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life, from under heaven; everything that is on the earth shall perish. Genesis 7:17-20 For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than twenty feet. After the forty days of raining it took several months for the earth to dry. Genesis 8:15-17 Then God said to Noah, "Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives. Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground—so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number upon it." Although there were probably other boats during Noah's time, people did not prepare to stay for such a length of time. That is why Noah survived and the rest did not. |
