Big Brother is Watching

As the world now faces heightened terror alerts,  we are now confronted with the problem of how to monitor thousands of miles of border and high risk installations.

Jay Walker

Jay Walker, founder of the internet firm Priceline.com, has created a new way to monitor high-security areas.  He calls it  US Home Guard

The reason for Walker’s US Home Guard is based on the idea that the US government has declared its 47,000 power plants and airports to be "critical infrastructure facilities."

These are tempting targets for a terrorist. At the present time, a militant terrorist can walk within 100 feet of most facilities undetected, giving him the opportunity to murder thousands of people.

But what if webcams could beam pictures of those terrorists to the internet?  A group of citizens could then watch the cameras, much like a neighborhood crime watch.  They could report any suspicious activity if they saw a possible assailant -- for example, a man with a gun walking into an airport.

How would Jay Walker's system work?

First a grid of webcams is set up covering all the high risk locations. Second, surveillance teams are organized into spotters and evaluators. Each spotter is sent an image every minute.  They must reply if it contains a threat by clicking on it.  It is similar to an internet shopping cart -- you see images that you like and you click on them.

One in ten pictures sent will contain a threat to keep the spotters on their toes.  If a spotter clicks the wrong answer, then he is barred from the system for three minutes.  He must then answer a series of pictures correctly before they let him back on.

If the spotter needs a break, the pictures are automatically re-routed to the next available spotter.  The computer would automatically detect that the spotter is not clicking on the pictures.

Groups of surveillance webcams could keep track of sensitive areas in the same way that security cameras keep watch over shoplifters in stores.

Jay Walker says he currently has enough volunteers to guard 3,000 high risk sites.  He is recruiting volunteers through his website.

People against US Home Guard say that Jay Walker is simply trying to exploit post 9-11 fears.  They doubt how effective this system would be.

We believe this system would not yet be effective because at the present time, there is very little terrorism.  However it would be very effective against regular crime.

Another variant of this system is to use a secure based satellite communication system similar to the one used by the National Security Agency to monitor all high risk locations.  This would avoid  terrorists hacking the internet.

"1984" is Here!

George Orwell wrote his book "1984" over 50 years ago about a militaristic police state where the citizens were under constant surveillance.  With webcams the government can now literally watch every citizen.

"The telescreen received and transmitted simultaneously any sound that Winston made,"   George Orwell, 1984.

Web cams are used to monitor people.

The modern version of the telescreen is the internet with  your friendly webcam transmitting images to a post 9-11 shadow government that it totally monitoring your every move.

Big Brother, a totalitarian state where every single step is watched, every single phone call is tapped, and every single letter is opened, was once thought to be the Soviet Union, but in fact, this state which was envisaged by George Orwell in his book "1984" exists today.  It is not Russia, but instead a country which has always been boasting about its freedom and impressive human rights record.  This nation preaches the Orwellian dialectic.

There are three tenets exposed in "1984:"

1.  WAR IS PEACE

The phrase "War is peace" looks like a lie, as they tell you that there needs to be a war on terrorism to bring peace.  Of course, it is not possible to catch all the terrorists, so it is a continuous state of war.  It is like the war on drugs which has been fought since the 1930's.  It never ended, it only has gotten worse.

2.  IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

In the Orwellian society there were 3 groups.  The High, the Middle and the Low.  The aim of the High was to keep the others submissive...through ignorance.
"From the point of view of the Low, no historic change has ever meant much more than a change in the name of their masters," George Orwell, 1984.
Much in the same way our present society strips the library of useful books claiming that terrorists might use that information.

3.  FREEDOM IS SLAVERY

In order to preserve your freedom, the government must enact legislation to protect you.  This means that all your rights must be surrendered, such as "right to bear arms," "unreasonable search and seizure," "freedom of speech," "right to assemble," etc.  To save freedom, the government must destroy it.

In the past, this type of totalitarian government was impossible, "part of the reason for this was that in the past no government had the power to keep its citizens under constant surveillance," but now,  private life comes to an end as  "we have the technical advance which made it possible to receive and transmit simultaneously on the same instrument," George Orwell, 1984.

Well before the time of George Orwell, there was a man who wrote about this government.  He wrote:

Revelation 13:14
And he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform in the presence of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who *had the wound of the sword and has come to life.

Revelation 13:15
And it was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast would even speak and cause as many as do not worship the image of the beast to be killed.

We will soon see the global government of the beast in action.

Pray that Christ comes soon!
