Path We Are Going on

I had a dream that started in a crowded highway.

It was very, very noisy; there were several lanes going both ways, filled with many cars. For some reason, the wide highway started to became more narrow, and the traffic diminished. Then the expressway changed into a two-lane thoroughfare; gradually the concrete pavement grew worse and it became a dusty country gravel road, as I got further away from the city. Finally, the road became a narrow small dirt path with no one using it but me; there were no houses or buildings of any kind, and  there were no power lines. I felt completely isolated. The pothole-filled road had become a dirt rut with weeds growing in it, because hardly anybody ever went this way.

I noticed that bushes were growing on both sides, and they were hemming me in. It made traveling hard for me. Gradually, trees began to appear and they grew taller and taller. It was like they reached up to the sky.  I could barely see the road anymore as the path was full of leaves; however, I kept going.

At the end of the tiny narrow path there was a clearing and there was a house in the middle. Inside it lived seven angelic girls that were good and pure.

This dream made me think about the path that we choose in life. People of the world are on the wide path.  Because they feel that there is safety in numbers, they do not want to go any other way, but where the crowds are going. They do not like to be seen as weird by the large group.

The wide road has a smooth pavement, so it is easy to travel in.  It is very spacious, comfortable, beautiful and alluring. Its destination though is DESTRUCTION.  It reminds me of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge going to Tampa, Florida.  In 1980 it broke, and all the cars going down that way were plunging into the abyss down below.

In contrast, the narrow path does not have many people going on it. People who follow God through the narrow path feel isolated from other human beings; they rely only on the Lord.  In fact, the original word for narrow is "cramped" meaning it is restrictive, tight, and difficult to enter through that gate, and difficult to advance through that road.  Going on this narrow path requires a constant effort.

We are therefore presented with two roads, the choice is ours.

Jeshua's Narrow Path

There is a narrow gate that is the entrance to a narrow path.  The gate is so narrow... that very few find it.  The road is just a little path, but its destination is LIFE.

Matthew 7:13
Enter ye in at the strait (narrow) gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Matthew 7:14
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto LIFE, and few there be that find it.

Luke 13:24
Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

Satan makes it very difficult for most people to follow the narrow path. People want to be with other people, and the narrow path is almost deserted!  Not only that, but it is uncomfortable to travel. It gets tougher and tougher as you advance, and the weeds (problems) seem to be closing in on you more and more as you try to go forward. There are signs that say... "Keep it up, you are almost there!" Yes, this narrow path is the path you are intended to go.... with very few people.

Jeshua has told us that we must follow Him through this narrow road... that we must trust Him and keep His commandments.

Proverbs 7:1-2
My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee
Keep my commandments, and LIVE; and my law as the apple of thine eye

Yes, keeping God's commandments leads to LIFE.  This is the narrow path-- the path this deceived world does not follow, the path that is devoid of "worldly fun."

John 14:15
If ye love me, keep my commandments

Keeping the commandments is the way to continue in this narrow path, the path that leads to LIFE.
